From the Mainsprings to the Offsprings

Me and Charlie together in London

From Grandad, or …….
From the Mainspring to the Offsprings
(To be read with a Lilt)

A line to say - God bless you all.
Handsome, beautiful, short or tall.
In Lands away across the sea
In Heat and Cold, at Lunch and Tea
At work and play - night’n day
Whatever the time, we think of you -
Try to imagine what you do
Wherever you are, in house or car -
In school or pool
Keeping the law - keeping the rule
Playing the game, running the race
Keeping the pace
While we take it easy - having retired!
Planning the future - keeping inspired.
Sitting around
With our feet on the ground
Except when we're flying
To far away places
Where there's work to be done
And people to see
With sermons to preach
Where there's people to reach.
But, wherever we are, whatever we do -
There's never a minute we don't think of you
And you and you and you and you -
All getting older – all getting bolder
Strong of back and broad of shoulder
Wise in mind, Loving 'n kind
At footer or soccer or football or cricket
Scoring a goal or keeping the wicket
Swimming or jumping or somersault turning
Camera in hand or playing in band

As for us - right now
Grandma is snoozing while watching the snooker
And I am...... going to do the same! Zzzzzzzz.
